On day 2 of its Great River Road Trip, the Class of 2007 with Prof. Ken Byrne and Paul Cawood Hellmund (back row, right) cross the Connecticut River on the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry (established 1769).

Topographic surveying is the main focus of the the first two weeks after the fall orientation trip. Students learn how to create base maps of their fall project sites that include locations of all the major site features, as well as contours that reveal the lay of the land.

Two or three students go out in survey teams; to survey each of their projects.
